For the second time in two games, the Pace Vikings found themselves down nine points to open the fourth quarter, this time to the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets.
The Vikings made a run to take the lead, but their offense was held without a field goal for the final five minutes and ultimately they fell 42-41 to the Yellowjackets in a District 32-5A contest Friday night at Pace.
Pace led 41-38 with less than three minutes to go, but back-to-back baskets from Marcos Escobar and Dillon Gomez gave the Yellowjackets the lead for good.
The Vikings had chances down the stretch for potential go-ahead baskets as Edcouch-Elsa went 0 for 5 from the free-throw line during the final 37 seconds, but three turnovers shut the door on the home team.
