Cuellar wins heated Dist. 2 race

WESLACO - John F. "Johnny" Cuellar will extend his service as city commissioner after narrowly winning District 2 on Saturday.

Cuellar defeated challenger Lazaro "Larry" Cardenas Jr. by 28 votes, capturing 296 votes (52 percent) compared to Cardenas' 268 votes (48 percent).

"It was a close race because both candidates worked hard," Cuellar said. "Larry Cardenas is a good friend of mine. I appreciated him running a good, hard campaign."

Cuellar's early voting margin of 196-170 proved to be the difference.

Cuellar has spent nearly two decades in the Weslaco community as an attorney. The longtime Weslaco resident was a member of the city commission that recently hammered out a $27 million bond that will help pay for a number of municipal improvement projects to the city. Cuellar said there are nine major projects that will be funded by the bond.

"I'm really excited the citizens of Weslaco selected me to serve as commissioner for District 2," Cuellar said. "This was a historic election because we had six seats come up at the same time...I'm really looking forward to working with the commissioners selected on Saturday and the two who will be elected from the run-offs."

So Concerned why didn't you step up to the plate and run? You seem to think you have the facts. Everyone is so ready to Criticize but yet no one wants to serve the community to try to make a difference.

Voter you are absolutely right, the Domingo Sepulveda family are the greatest back stabbers known to society. Domingo and his unworthy sons are the most conniving family in Weslaco. Has anyone ever wondered why Domingo is always so concern as to who is going to run the city and the school board? He wants to make sure that his sons are always taken care off.

Stop being so concern about the Reyna's and start worrying about the Domingo Sepulveda family. As we all know, Larry thought he had it made in the shade because Domingo Sepulveda promised him victory. Well Larry, now you are nothing but a huge piece of dead meat because you are worthless to Domingo and his worthless sons. The Sepulved'as are the most conniving family in Weslaco. At least the Reynas are people of their word, but the Sepulveda are the greatest back stabbers known to society. Has anyone ever wondered why Domingo is always so concern as to who is going to run the city and the school board? He wants to make sure that his sons are always taken care off.

Out of that 27 million dollar bond how much did daddy Reyna pocket. Congrats Zeke for still having two puppets in the show.
