Christmas Parade and Winter Fest is Thursday
Special to MVTC
WESLACO — Because of impending inclement weather, the parade committee has decided it is best for participants and volunteers to postpone the Mid-Valley Lighted Christmas Parade until December 17.
Celebrate the holiday season in downtown Weslaco as it comes alive with lights and holiday magic during the annual Mid-Valley Lighted Christmas Parade, sponsored by Dr. Sudarshan, The Eye Experts. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. along Texas Blvd. between Pike Blvd. and Sixth Street. This year’s theme is “A Rock Band Christmas”.
The parade line-up will include antique cars, marching bands, dancers, school groups, equestrians, and a special appearance by Santa Claus, making it an unforgettable experience! Bring your lawn chairs and arrive early for a great spot!
Each year the Christmas Parade Committee chooses a Parade Marshal in honor of their service to the city of Weslaco. This year’s honoree is Howdy Smith for his accomplishments and dedication to city and civic responsibilities to the community.
The parade will be followed by Winter Fest 2009 at the Weslaco City Hall parking lot located at 255 S. Kansas.
Winter Fest will consist of free kiddie rides, free face painting, food vendors, school choirs singing Christmas Carols and other family activities.
